The decline of trust, the rise of Trump – and an opportunity for philanthropy
The people of the United States have elected Donald Trump to be their president for a second time. And while the dynamics of Trump's appeal will be examined, analysed (and debated) for a long time; the observation that so many Americans voted for a candidate who has openly undermined democratic institutions and norms, rings alarm bells for pro-democracy advocates.
In the days following the election, Mannifera's Executive Officer, Harriet McCallum, wrote an article for Philanthropy Australia reflecting on themes the Trump win has brought to the surface, and sharing some immediate reflections from academics and advocates in the Mannifera network.
