Over the past year Mannifera’s granting practice has grown and evolved with our membership.

Notably, our First Nations-led granting practice grew by over 60 per cent over the past year, reflecting dedicated commitments by a number of funders both within and outside the Mannifera membership. This growth has enabled the First Nations granting practice to expand to include democratic inclusion as a focus, alongside economic inclusion.

Together with a targeted round on civic knowledge and participation, capacity building and rapid response grants, renewals and multi-year commitments to existing partners, we are delighted to have awarded more than $1.8 million to 31 organisations.

Mannifera's First Nations Practice Lead, Liandra Gaykamangu, commented:

''Meaningful systems change requires patience, partnership and trust and I am proud to be part of an organisation that centres these principles in the way we work. The growth in funding for our First Nations-led practice is enabling more of these partnerships; backing people and organisations who are deeply connected to their communities and ideally placed to lead sustainable change.''

Mannifera's Director of Partnerships and Engagement, Tambelin Boykin, said the evolved grants practice has enabled a thoughtful balance between backing in existing partners and welcoming new ones.

''Some fantastic civic participation initiatives were surfaced through the open grant round and we're excited to be funding five organisations for the first time through this process. The work of these organisations complements the advocacy agendas of our existing partners, and we look forward to seeing new collaborations emerge between them.''
